Sun Fire T1000/T2000 and Netra T2000 With Firmware 6.5.11 May Experience Continuous Console EFT Errors

1. Impact

Sun Fire T1000/T2000 and Netra T2000 systems with firmware 6.5.11 or earlier running Solaris 10 with patch 125369-02 will experience a continuous stream of console EFT errors.

2. Contributing Factors

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

SPARC Platform

  • Sun Fire T1000/T2000 systems with firmware 6.5.11 (patch 127576-03) or earlier and running Solaris 10 with patch 125369-02 or later
under the following conditions:
  1. System uses firmware 6.5.11 (patch 127576-03) or earlier and runs Solaris 10 with FMA patch 125369-02 or later.  Bug 6566151 causes FMA to produce EFT errors in place of the proper error message.
  2. System uses the 501-7283, Dual 10GB PCIE card with Kernel patch 127111-07 or earlier. Bug 6623776 causes a constant stream of errors.
  • Netra T2000 systems with firmware 6.5.11 (patch 127576-03) or earlier and running Solaris 10 with patch 125369-02 or later
under the following conditions:
  1. System uses firmware 6.5.11 (patch 127576-03) or earlier and runs Solaris 10 with FMA patch 125369-02 or later.  Bug 6566151 causes FMA to produce EFT errors in place of the proper error message.
  2. System has FMA patch 125369-02 or later installed but doesn't have patch 126239-01 installed. FMA bugs 6641872 & 6654024 cause a continuous stream of error messages.

Note: The x86 platform is not affected by this issue.

To determine the current version of firmware on the affected system, the following command can be run from the System Controller command-line interface (CLI):

    sc> showhost
    System Firmware 6.4.6 Sun Fire[TM] T2000 2007/06/24 12:36
    ...

To determine the version of Solaris on the system, the following command can be run:

    $ cat /etc/release
    Solaris 10 8/07 s10s_u4wos_12b SPARC
