Impact
Sun Fire T2000/Netra T2000 systems running Solaris 10 with patch 118833-25 or later may hang during a reconfiguration boot if an external serial device is attached to the system.
Contributing Factors
This issue can occur on the following platforms:
- Sun Fire T2000/Netra T2000 systems running Solaris 10 with patch 118833-25 or later and without patch 126303-02
Notes:
- Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 are not affected by this issue.
- Solaris on the x86 platform is not affected by this issue.
- This issue will only occur if an external serial device is attached to the system.
Symptoms
Should the described issue occur, the system may hang during a reconfiguration boot if an external serial device is attached.
Additionally, the serial device may not be able to interact with the system after a non-reconfiguration boot and commands such as prtconf(1M), prtdiag(1M) etc. may hang.
A kernel crash dump generated from such a hang will contain a thread with a stack trace similar to the following:
pci_get_msi_ctrl+0x120()
pci_msi_get_supported_type+0x1c()
px_intr_ops+0x30()
pxb_intr_ops+0xe0()

Note: To force a panic to obtain the crash dump, send a break from ALOM.
