Impact
Intermittently, the communication between system controllers on Sun Fire 3800/4800/4810/6800 Servers may report "private link is down". During this sequence of a lost connection, the failover functionality is disabled. However, the communication is automatically re-established between the system controllers.
Because of the potential for numerous error messages this issue may result in unnecessary replacement of hardware.

Note: Please use the "showsc -v" command to display the firmware version of the System Controller.
Symptoms
Should the described issue occur, messages similar to the following might be observed:
Platform.SC [ID 200935 local0.warning] SC Failover: private link is down
Platform.SC [ID 316912 local0.notice] SC Failover: private link is down,
failover is still active until any configuration change is done
Platform.SC [ID 913363 local0.notice] SC Failover: enabled and active.
Workaround
There is no required action for recovery. The private link communication is restored automatically..

This issue is addressed in the following releases:
SPARC Platform

Sun Fire 6800/4810/4800/3800 with firmware 5.14.5 (delivered with patch 112883-06) or later

Sun Fire 6800/4810/4800/3800 with firmware 5.15.1 (delivered with patch 112884-02) or later
Note: Systems with 5.13.x firmware will require an upgrade.
